Small Group Classes and Workshops: Handwriting Instruction

Small group classes are ideal for instruction and enrichment

We offer regular small group classes that focus on building new skills and enriching existing skills. These classes are most appropriate for typically developing students who are interested in learning a new skill such as cursive writing or who would benefit from additional reinforcement of skills such as letter formations and fine motor strength.

Learn to Write in Cursive

This class teaches the fundamentals of cursive writing. We use the award-winning Handwriting Without Tears’ program, which uses a clean, vertical style of cursive that is easy to learn, read, and write. The transition to cursive is smooth when the student has good print skills. And, if printing skills are below average, our cursive instruction will give students a fresh start on the path to good handwriting. This is an 8-week class which meets weekly for 1 hour. Students are assigned homework in between each weekly session. The class is offered 4 times per school year, with start dates in August, October, January, and March. This class is appropriate for students in grades 2 through 6, although second graders may only participate in the classes with January and March start dates. Class requires a minimum of 2 students and a maximum of 4 students. Materials included. Cursive Writing is also offered as a summer campRead more about the benefits of cursive.
