Meredith’s children learned to write in Preschool using the Handwriting Without Tears® program. It was exciting for her to watch her children embrace letter awareness and writing in the preschool years. But it was not until her children started kindergarten that she fully realized the impact of the HWT program on her children’s development. She was amazed at how quickly they began reading, and recognizes that their competence and confidence in letter knowledge and writing skills provided a perfect foundation to influence their reading.
Despite today’s trend towards technology in the classroom, Meredith is a firm believer that elementary students experience greater success when they learn to write legibly using proper form. Meredith is especially enthusiastic about the HWT curriculum because it is so effective for children who are frustrated with writing. This curriculum, which was created by a passionate mom for her frustrated son, has helped thousands of children with the mechanics of writing, and she is excited to share this knowledge with other children.
Meredith and her husband have two children who are students at Warren T. Jackson Elementary School and The Lovett School. Meredith is an active volunteer at her children’s schools, having served as Co-President of the PTA and as a Girl Scout Leader. They are members of Trinity Presbyterian Church, where she volunteers her time teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.
